Ghetto Machine Shop Part One
Picasa won't let you upload more than a certain amount, so this will come in two parts.
this is the "top" post
I came up with a "non machine shop" solution to line up the holes on the speed rail.
The Ghetto machine shop.
Drill the first hole and secure a level to the pipe.
Line up the next one and drill away.

The "Speedy Gonzalez"
Working on the skateboard dolly today.
I have the wheels built and am debating on the best platform/attachment method. I think I am going to go for a couple of pieces of 3/4" plywood screwed together and figure some ingenious way to attach the wheels accurately. Then, there is the issue of how to get the speed rail attached to the cross pieces. I am thinking of drilling ant tapping, but getting a perfect center line series of holes with my shitty drill press seems daunting.
The inspiration for the name of the track.
The rough-in of the track.
Another wide shot.
Detail of the bits.

The state of things.
At present, there are a bunch of motors, some old scrapped driver boxes from Boss Film and an arduino card that I barely know how to use. Over the next few months we're going to get all this transformed into a working rig or two and be dialed in to do some kick ass stop-mo camera work and maybe a little time lapse.
Wish me luck.
